How to install Choicer Voicer packs

The Choicer Voicer ships as a "blank canvas" — the developer, YeahMaybe, says it plainly: there's very little content built into the game, and it's meant to be filled with packs made by the community. That's great for variety, but it also means the first thing every new player asks is "I downloaded the game and there is nothing to dub — where do the packs go?" This guide answers that.

Before you start

You need the game itself. The Choicer Voicer is sold exclusively on itch.io for $5 pay-what-you-want, and it runs on Windows and Linux only — there is no macOS version and Chromebooks are not supported. If you haven't bought it yet, grab it from the official itch.io page, unzip the game, and launch it once so it creates its folders.

Step 1: Find a pack

Packs live on GameBanana's Choicer Voicer section, and this site indexes every one of them — use the pack directory to search by name or filter by category. Every card links straight to the pack's official GameBanana page, so downloads always come from the author. Most packs come as a ZIP file, so there's nothing to run or install — just a folder of audio (and video, for dub packs).

Step 2: Identify the pack type

There are two main kinds of packs, and they go in different places:

If you're not sure which type you downloaded, check the pack's category on its GameBanana page — or just look inside the ZIP: a dub pack contains a video file (usually .ogv), while a voice pack is audio only.

Step 3: Unzip and drop the folder in place

As the developer puts it, "making a voice pack is as easy as dropping audio files into a folder" — installing one is the same in reverse:

  1. Download the pack ZIP from its GameBanana page.
  2. Extract the ZIP with your system's archive tool.
  3. Move the extracted folder — the whole folder, not just the loose files inside — into packs_voice for voice packs, or into the dub folder for Dub Mode packs.
  4. Restart the game if it was open.

The game scans its pack folders on launch, so a pack added while the game is running usually won't appear until you restart.

Step 4: Select the pack in-game

Launch The Choicer Voicer, pick your judges and host as usual, and select the new pack when the game asks what to play. For Dub Mode, choose the mode first, then pick the scene from the list — your new dub pack should appear there.

Troubleshooting: the pack doesn't show up

Where to get packs safely

Stick to GameBanana (indexed by this site) and the developer's own free packs on itch.io. Avoid re-uploaded bundles from random file-sharing sites — they often strip the author's credit and can bundle things you don't want. This index only lists packs without the NSFW flag, so everything here is safe for family game nights.

Once your packs are in, the next thing most players hit is the microphone — if the game isn't recording you, see our microphone fix guide, or test your mic right now with the browser mic test.
